Binary-vs-XML asymmetry: MID() has no XML schema element. In XML a MID is implied whenever two or more SegmentationUpid elements appear, and the outer segmentation_upid_type 0x0D that frames a MID in the bitstream has no XML equivalent. This per-entry type is the inner type carried once per nested UPID inside the binary MID loop; in XML each nested UPID is its own SegmentationUpid element with its own @segmentationUpidType.
