SCTE 104/35 Codex

SCTE 67 is the informational recommended-practice companion to SCTE 35. SCTE 35 defines the message on the wire; SCTE 67 explains how to actually use it in a real program-insertion workflow, from provider through distributor to the viewer device. It is informative guidance, not a bit-level format and not a source of universal requirements, so it fills the gaps SCTE 35 deliberately leaves to implementers: how far ahead to signal, how to keep event ids from colliding, how to start and end a break cleanly, and how to carry the same signal once the stream leaves MPEG-2 transport for HLS or DASH. Treat its advice as recommendations, and where its guidance and SCTE 35 ever conflict, SCTE 35 governs. Read it when a question is about operating practice rather than parsing bytes.
